“We tried to cover a lot of bases…” (O. De La Renta)
Oscar De La Renta best summed up the Spring & Summer 2015 season – DIVERSITY!
Here is our pick of what’s hot for 2015:
- Especially 1930’s
- …& 1960’s
- Boho brides
- Greek goddess
- Blush pink
- Contemporary, textured lace
- Light, slinky, airy & fluid dresses
- Two piece separates
- Convertible two piece dresses
- Clean, minimalistic silhouettes
- Illusion front & back necklines
- Plunging front & back necklines
- Mantilla veils
On the back of the monumental influence the decadent 1920’s has had on society in general and the wedding industry in particular, for many it is now time for a change. As a result designers such as Packham, Acra and De La Renta are looking towards the glamourous, elegant, vintage 1930’s for inspiration. And if the 1920’s are anything to go by, the 1930’s look set to take the wedding industry by storm during Spring & Summer 2015…

Boho brides will continue to be well catered for by the likes of Naeem Khan, De La Renta, Wang and Watters.

Vera Wang uniquely showcased a range of pink wedding dresses in her Fall 2014 bridal collection and if the past is anything to go by, when Vera leads, other will always follow. So keep an eye out for pink in 2015, and in particular blush pink – it looks set to be one of the colours of the year!

Silver should also be one of the primary colours of Spring/Summer 2015.

Contemporary, Textured Lace
Textured lace will be a hot firm favourite during 2015 thanks to several jaw-dropping designs created by the likes of Naeem Khan and Modern Trousseau.
Light, Slinky, Airy & Fluid
There is also a move to lighten things up for we see lots of light, airy, easily wearable, fluid and delicate gowns. Notable designers leading the way include Temperley, Khan and Inbal Dror.

One particular accessory to look out for…
|Reem Acra – Mantilla Veil|
Two Piece Separates
Not only separate top and bottoms displayed by Theia, Wang et al, but also convertible two piece dresses utilising an overskirt for the ceremony which can then be removed to reveal a convenient and comfortably sleek gown or sheath, al la Hayley Paige.

One of the more prominent fabrics for Spring/Summer 2015 season is tulle.
Minimalistic, clean, somewhat sophisticated, feminine silhouettes. Think Kate Moss’ slinky style.
The ‘Greek Goddess’ theme remains popular during Spring & Summer 2015 and it is easy to see why. Designers such as Packham and Alberta Ferretti have looked to this period and produced designs with classic, timeless appeal.
Illusion Front And Back Necklines
Last season’s illusion neckline trend is taken to a whole new level for Spring/Summer 2015 with many designers opting for skin toned illusion whilst at the same time incorporating often elaborately styled lace within the illusion – in the necklines, sleeves as well as backs.
Plunging Front & Back Necklines
Sleeves Still Popular
Lace sleeves (a la Kate) remain an established feature in lots of dresses.
Yet another trend to keep an eye on during Spring and Summer 2015.
